The NSX GT3 is the customer GT3 racer built from the second-generation NSX, sold as a Honda or an Acura. It ran from 2017 in three specifications: original, Evo and Evo22. Factory support ended in 2024, so used cars are now far cheaper than new, but parts and engine support need checking before you buy.

## History

The NSX GT3 is the GT3 racing version of the second-generation NSX road car. JAS Motorsport in Arluno, Italy, assembled every car [5][6]. Chassis were built beside the road car in Marysville, Ohio. Engines came from Honda's Anna Engine Plant [0]. Unlike the road car, the racer drives only the rear wheels, through an Xtrac six-speed sequential gearbox [0].

The car first raced at the 2017 Rolex 24 at Daytona with two Michael Shank Racing entries [7]. Customer sales opened in July 2017 at €465,000 ex works. HPD sold the car in North America, Mugen in Japan and JAS Motorsport in the rest of the world [0]. The first IMSA GTD win came at Detroit Belle Isle later in 2017 [7].

The first update, the Evo, was announced in October 2018 for the 2019 season. It added a new splitter, diffuser, rear bumper and turbochargers, and older cars could take these parts as a kit [2]. Newly built Evo cars also gained improved ABS hardware and a new Bosch display and logger [2]. Acura claimed roughly 25 per cent more engine life [2]. The Evo22 followed in August 2021. Its main change was a new intercooler for heat, altitude and poor fuel [4]. It also brought revised rear geometry and springs, larger fluid tanks and faster wheel changes [3]. It was sold both new and as an upgrade package [4].

Factory support wound down at the end of 2024. The NSX made its last IMSA start at Petit Le Mans in October 2024 [8]. UpGarage ran the last Super GT car at Suzuka that December [9]. The official customer programme ended in March 2025, and JAS became the global distributor of spare parts [6]. Privately run cars still raced in British GT and the Thailand Super Series in 2025 and 2026 [11].

## Palmarès

In IMSA GTD the NSX GT3 took 8 race wins and two sets of drivers' and teams' titles [7]. It added 30 GT World Challenge America wins and 4 Super GT wins [7]. ARTA took the 2019 Super GT GT300 title, and Nova Race won Italian GT titles in 2021 and 2022 [7]. GMB Motorsport won the 2022 Michelin Le Mans Cup GT3 class [7]. Gradient Racing won GTD at Petit Le Mans in 2022 [7][8]. The car's most recent title is the 2024 Thailand Super Series GT3 [6]. It nearly took a first Intercontinental GT Challenge win at Kyalami in 2020, until a costly pit stop [7].

## What to check before you buy

Confirm exactly which specification is fitted: original, Evo kit, new-build Evo, or Evo22 conversion: Kits upgrade aero, turbos and intercoolers, but new-build Evo cars also got ABS and electronics that kits did not include. Get engine and gearbox kilometres since last service, with invoices from HPD, JAS or a known team: One 2025 seller quoted service intervals of 20,000 km for the engine and 15,000 km for the gearbox. A car close to either limit needs budget. Ask whether the engine has ever overheated or been damaged, and whether it was inspected by HPD: The engine is generally not repairable after damage or overheating, so a hidden event can mean a long block replacement. Check the ABS unit (Bosch M4 or M5) and the dash and logger versions: The launch car used Bosch M4 ABS; the Evo22 lists Bosch M5 with DDU10 display and C60 logger. List the spares, wheels and compulsory service tools included in the sale: New, the compulsory service tools were €5,735 and spare packages up to €90,614. Missing tooling makes a car hard to run. Confirm parts lead times and current pricing with JAS Motorsport before committing: JAS has been the sole global spares distributor since the customer programme ended in March 2025. Check the homologation end date and current BoP in the series you plan to enter: Published end dates differ: one source says end of 2027, others say 2029.

## Did you know

- The race engine is listed at 3,501 cc with a 90 mm stroke, while the road car's JNC1 V6 is 3,493 cc with an 89.5 mm stroke [0][12].
- Race chassis were built alongside road NSXs in Marysville, Ohio, and race engines in Anna, Ohio, before final assembly in Italy [0].
- The first Evo22 debut was planned for the Rolex 24 at Daytona in January 2022, five years after the original car's debut there [4][7].

## Frequently asked questions

**What is the difference between the NSX GT3, Evo and Evo22?** The Evo (2019) added new aero and turbochargers, and new-build Evo cars got better ABS and a new Bosch dash and logger. The Evo22 (2022) added a new intercooler, revised rear suspension geometry and springs, larger fluid tanks and quicker wheel changes. Many early chassis were converted, so check the paperwork rather than the model year.

**Can an original 2017 car be upgraded to Evo22?** Yes. The Evo parts were offered as a kit for older cars. The Evo22 was sold as an upgrade package as well as on new chassis. Converted cars may still keep the older ABS and electronics, because those came only on newly built Evo cars.

**Who supports the car now that Honda has stopped?** The official customer programme ended in March 2025. JAS Motorsport in Arluno, Italy, built every car and is now the global distributor of spare parts. JAS also offers engineering and personnel support packages for teams still racing the car.

**Can the engine be rebuilt like a normal race engine?** Not easily. HPD says the block construction and bore coating make the engine generally not serviceable after damage or overheating. Service usually means a complete block or head, or a replacement long block. A car with a fresh, documented engine is worth more.

**Where can I race an NSX GT3 today?** It remains a homologated GT3 car, and Evo22s raced in British GT and the Thailand Super Series in 2025 and 2026. IMSA and Super GT entries ended in 2024. Sources disagree on whether homologation ends in 2027 or 2029, so ask your series organiser and check the current BoP.
