## History

Lamborghini showed the Huracán GT3 at Sant'Agata Bolognese on 21 January 2015. It was the first GT3 car its own motorsport department, Squadra Corse, had developed [0]. Dallara Engineering worked on the composite body and the aerodynamics, with Gian Paolo Dallara involved in person [0]. The car kept the road car's hybrid aluminium and carbon structure, the rear-mounted V10 and a Bosch Motorsport engine controller [0]. Lamborghini quoted 1,230 kg and a price of €369,000 ex works, before local taxes [0]. The spec sheet listed a six-speed Hör sequential gearbox, Brembo steel brakes and a 120 litre tank [1].

The first car raced in the Blancpain Endurance Series from 2015. In 2017 Grasser Racing took the Blancpain GT Series overall and Endurance Cup titles with Bortolotti, Engelhart and Caldarelli [10]. By September 2018 Lamborghini counted more than 50 race wins and 12 series titles for the original car [2].

The GT3 EVO was shown at the Nürburgring in September 2018. Lamborghini said about half the car had been redesigned for a three-season cycle [2]. Changes included the Performante road engine in place of the unit shared with the Audi R8 LMS, a new rear wing and splitter, lighter aluminium front arms, four-way dampers, improved ABS and adjustable power steering [2]. A new EVO cost €389,000 and existing GT3 customers could buy an upgrade package [2]. Lamborghini said the aim was lower running costs and a car easier for gentleman drivers [2].

The EVO2 followed on 4 May 2022, delayed one year because of the pandemic and to spare customer teams [3][4]. It took the look of the Huracán STO: roof scoop, rear fin, new splitters, diffuser and underbody, plus individual throttle bodies [4][5]. Lamborghini said the focus was drivability, reliability, maintenance and running costs rather than outright pace [3]. The EVO2 debuted in 2023, and EVO cars could be converted with a kit [3][4]. The FIA homologation of the EVO2 runs from 2022 to 2029, while the Temerario GT3 replaces it from 2026 [12].

## Palmarès

The Huracán GT3 family had taken 197 race wins by May 2026 [14]. Grasser Racing won the 2017 Blancpain GT Series overall and Endurance Cup titles [10]. The GT Daytona class at the Daytona 24 Hours fell to the Huracán three years running: Grasser in 2018 and 2019, Paul Miller Racing in 2020 with a Lamborghini one-two [7][8][9]. Lamborghini also took the IMSA GTD manufacturers' title in 2018 and 2019, and two Sebring 12 Hours class wins by 2021 [9][13]. The EVO2 won its first DTM race at Oschersleben in May 2023 [14]. On 29 June 2025 the #63 Grasser EVO2 of Bortolotti, Pepper and Engstler won the Spa 24 Hours outright by 8.7 seconds, Lamborghini's first win there [11].

## What to check before you buy

Ask for engine km, gearbox km and chassis km as three separate numbers, with the last rebuild date for each: Listings quote them separately; a 2020 EVO was offered with 6,500 km on the engine, 4,000 km on the gearbox and a fresh differential. Confirm which version the car is and whether the EVO or EVO2 kit was fitted by Squadra Corse, with the homologation papers: EVO and EVO2 were sold as new cars or as kits; the EVO2 homologation runs to 2029, so a kitted car is worth more than an unconverted one. Identify the gearbox (Hör or Xtrac) and ask for the ratio set and the last overhaul report: The supplier quoted changed between the 2015 spec sheet and later cars; spares are not interchangeable. Check the torque sensors, ABS and traction-control electronics with the Bosch MS6.4 logs from the last event: A torque sensor fault forced a pit stop at Sebring 2025; the EVO2 depends on these sensors for BoP compliance. Inspect the fuel cell date, pumps and plumbing: The 120 litre FT3 cell has a life limit, and a fuel problem retired the Grasser car at Daytona 2020. List every spare body panel, splitter, diffuser and wheel set included, and whether spares are priced separately: Dealers often exclude the spares package from the car price; one 2021 EVO came with two bumpers and four wheel sets. Check dates on the seat, belts, extinguisher and fuel cell: The FIA 8862 seat, OMP extinguisher system and FT3 cell all expire; a seller stating they are in date is a good sign.

## Did you know

- The 2015 car was the first GT3 Lamborghini developed by its own motorsport department, with Dallara doing the body and aerodynamics [0].
- Lamborghini's first ever 24-hour race win came at Daytona in January 2018, with Grasser Racing starting from the back after a grid penalty [7].
- The Spa 24 Hours win in June 2025 made Lamborghini the 20th different manufacturer to win the race [11].

## Frequently asked questions

**Can a 2019 Huracán GT3 EVO still race in GT3 series today?** Only if converted to EVO2 with the Squadra Corse kit, whose FIA homologation runs to 2029. An unconverted EVO is limited to national cup and club classes such as the UK GT Cup, where a 2021 EVO won the 2023 title [12][19].

**What does an EVO2 conversion add?** The STO-style roof scoop and rear fin, new splitters, diffuser and underbody, ten individual throttle bodies, torque sensors and the ten-map traction control and ABS. Lamborghini did not publish the kit price; ask Squadra Corse or the selling team for the invoice [3][4][5].

**How much power does the car have?** About 580 to 590 hp, set by Balance of Performance rather than the engine's potential. The road-car V10 makes 640 hp. Expect BoP changes event by event, so the number on a listing is only a guide [4][19].

**Which gearbox is fitted?** A six-speed pneumatic sequential with a three-plate clutch. Lamborghini's 2015 spec sheet names Hör; a 2021 EVO listing and the Wayne Taylor EVO2 spec name Xtrac. Check the build sheet of the car you are buying before pricing spares [1][6][19].

**How many were built?** Lamborghini has not split the number. By April 2021 it had built 400 Huracán race cars, Super Trofeo and GT3 together, since 2014. GT3 chassis numbers seen in listings run past 130 for 2022 cars [13][18].

**Is it a good first GT3 car?** Lamborghini designed the EVO and EVO2 with gentleman drivers in mind, with adjustable power steering, ten traction-control maps and a long homologation. Running costs are high and no public rebuild intervals exist, so budget from the team that ran the car [2][3][5].
