## History

Lotus announced an endurance racing Evora, called Type 124, in September 2009, aimed at FIA GT racing [3]. The production race car was revealed as the Evora Cup at Autosport International on 14 January 2010 [0]. Lotus Motorsport quoted a 4.0-litre V6 race engine with dry sump, over 400 PS, under 1,200 kg and a Cima six-speed sequential gearbox. The price was about £120,000 before taxes, and a one-make series was planned [0]. At Pebble Beach in August 2010, Lotus USA quoted $160,000 and said six cars had been sold [2].

The car gained SRO GT4 homologation on 28 August 2010 [7]. That month two Lotus Sport Italy Evoras ran the Vallelunga 6 Hours with the new 2011 production Xtrac gearbox installation [4]. Car 21 won the GT4 class [4]. Ollie Hancock won the Nürburgring round of the 2010 GT4 European Cup [6]. From the same base Lotus built the Evora GTE, which ran twice at Le Mans in 2011 for Jetalliance with a tuned V6 [6].

By 2013 Lotus offered the Evora GT4 at £124,800 plus VAT. That version used a 3.5-litre naturally aspirated V6 rated 360 bhp, Cosworth electronics and a 1,200 kg unladen weight [5]. Lotus Racing also sold GTN packages that put GT4 bodywork, dampers and wheels on road Evoras for club racing [9]. The GT4 homologation expired on 31 December 2018 [7].

In April 2019 Lotus showed an Evora GT4 Concept in Shanghai. It used a Harrop-supercharged 3.5-litre V6 with 456 PS and 510 Nm, a Torsen limited-slip differential and 1,200 kg before ballast [8]. Lotus said it aimed to race it in 2020 [8]. The GT4 role later passed to the Emira GT4, homologated in May 2022 [7]. Surviving Evora GT4s now race in Lotus Cup events, club GT series and American historic GT groups [10][11][12].

## Palmarès

The Evora Cup GT4 won the GT4 class at the Vallelunga 6 Hours in August 2010 with Gianni Giudici and Johnny Mowlem [4]. Ollie Hancock won the Nürburgring round of the 2010 GT4 European Cup [6]. In 2011 Mowlem, D'Aste and Giudici took a Dubai 24 Hours podium [6]. Stefano D'Aste then won at Zandvoort, before an engine failure cost him the GT4 European lead [6]. Richard Adams, David Green and Martin Byford won the 2012 Britcar MSA British Endurance Championship [6]. A seller states that one works car won British GT rounds at Silverstone, Donington Park, Spa and the Nürburgring [14]. Another seller says a factory-supported car finished runner-up in British GT4 in 2015 with three wins [13]. More recently a German car won the Lotus Cup Europe GT class in 2023 [12].

## What to check before you buy

Confirm a T124 chassis number on the car and in the paperwork: Factory GT4s carry a T124 chassis number, for example T124-011 [12]. A road Evora with a GTN kit is a different car [9]. Ask whether the engine is the 3.5-litre or the 4.0-litre unit, who built it, and for invoices showing hours since rebuild: Both capacities appear in factory and seller material, and a 2026 advert quotes 6 hours since rebuild on a 4.0-litre Cosworth engine [0][5][12]. Identify the gearbox (Cima or Xtrac) and get its serial number and hours since the last check: The gearbox changed from Cima to Xtrac with 2011 production, and sellers quote gearbox hours separately [0][4][12]. Read the dates on the fuel cell, seat and harness labels: A May 2026 advert shows a fuel cell certified only to 2025 and safety gear from 2021 [12]. Find out which ABS and traction control system is fitted and who services it: Cars on sale in 2026 list Bosch MS5 race ABS, or ABS with traction control [12][13]. Know who can service the system before you buy. Read the rules of your target series before buying: Lotus Cup rules cap factory Evora GT4s at 360 bhp at the hubs, ban charge cooling and add 30 kg for a sequential box. HSR puts the Evora GT4 in its pre-2019 GT4 class [10][11]. List the spares package item by item, especially any spare engine or gearbox: Some cars come with large spares packages, including a complete engine assembly, which changes the real price [14].

## Did you know

- At its Pebble Beach debut in August 2010, Lotus USA said six Evora Cup GT4s had already been sold at $160,000 each [2].
- One ex-works British GT car was driven at the Goodwood Festival of Speed by Nigel Mansell, who also signed it [14].
- Lotus named two Chinese factory drivers, Cui Yue and Gaoxiang Fan, for the 2019 Evora GT4 Concept [8].

## Frequently asked questions

**Can I race a Lotus Evora GT4 in today's GT4 European Series or British GT?** Not as a current GT4. Its SRO homologation, RACB GT4-019, ran from August 2010 to the end of 2018 and has expired. Owners now use it in Lotus Cup events and club GT series such as GT Cup. In the USA, HSR runs it in a pre-2019 GT4 class.

**Is the engine a Toyota or a Cosworth?** The base is the Toyota 2GR V6 used in the road Evora. Launch material described a 4.0-litre race engine, and 2013 cars were listed as 3.5-litre with Cosworth electronics. Some cars on sale in 2026 are described as 4.0-litre Cosworth engines. Ask who built the engine and for the rebuild invoices.

**Which gearbox does it have?** Launch cars in 2010 used a Cima six-speed sequential dog gearbox. Lotus introduced an Xtrac installation for 2011 production, first raced in August 2010. Most cars on sale today are described with Xtrac boxes, but check the casing and serial number rather than the advert.

**How do I tell a real Evora GT4 from a road Evora with a race kit?** Look for a T124 chassis number on the car and in the paperwork. Lotus also sold GTN packages that gave road Evoras GT4 bodywork, dampers and wheels. Those cars look similar but are road-car based, and they are usually cheaper. The paperwork should also say who built the car.

**What does an Evora GT4 cost now?** In 2026 a German trade seller asked €64,900 plus VAT for a 2011 car, and a GTE-converted ex-works car was offered at £80,000. A US dealer asked $119,900 in 2025 for an ex-works British GT car with a spare engine. New cars cost about £120,000 to £124,800 before taxes.
