History
AiM Sportline — the Italian data-acquisition house whose loggers and dashes populate club motorsport — built the SmartyCam on a coach's insight: onboard video without data is entertainment, but video with synchronised telemetry is instruction. The SmartyCam HD generations (through SmartyCam 3 evolutions) integrate with AiM's ecosystem (Solo laptimers, MXL/MXS dashes, ECU feeds) to burn graphical overlays — speed, rpm, gear, throttle/brake traces, lap times, track position — directly into the recording, no post-production required.
Adoption made it club racing's review standard: track-day coaches and racing schools built curricula on SmartyCam footage, championships' paddocks treat overlay video as the debrief medium, and the auto-start/auto-stop, vibration-proofed, motorsport-temperature engineering separated it from action-camera improvisation.
Used units trade on generation and ecosystem fit: HD versus later generations (resolution, connectivity), camera and mount condition, and — decisively — compatibility with the buyer's existing AiM hardware and ECU connection plan, since the telemetry integration is the product's entire point.
