APR GTC-300 wing

The APR GTC-300 is the pragmatic downforce standard: the carbon 3D-profile wing (67-inch span, GTC-200/500 siblings bracketing it) that time attack, club racing and track builds bolt on when aero stops being cosmetic.

History

APR Performance built its Californian carbon business on a truth the wing market obscured: most aftermarket spoilers are jewellery, and functional downforce needs aerofoil engineering. The GTC series answered with genuinely profiled carbon wings — the GTC-300's 67-inch, 3D-twisted aerofoil the range's serious middle, between the GTC-200's road-car scale and the GTC-500's 71-inch commitment — supplied with proper uprights, adjustable angle-of-attack hardware and per-chassis mounting solutions.

Adoption followed the disciplines that measure: time attack (where the GTC catalogue became near-uniform equipment), club racing classes permitting aero, drift's big-angle tier and the track-build world graduating from lips and canards — all buying the same proposition of catalogued, repeatable downforce with published guidance instead of guesswork.

The used market is condition-and-completeness trading: carbon health (delamination, crush damage at mounting points, repair evidence), upright and hardware completeness (chassis-specific mounts cost real money separately), and authenticity — the GTC's visibility spawned replicas whose profiles are cosmetic copies of a functional aerofoil.

What to check before you buy

Authenticity first: genuine GTC aerofoils have documented profiles and build quality replicas only photograph — verify APR provenance (mould quality, hardware, serials where present) before paying real-wing money. Inspect carbon honestly: mounting-point crush, edge delamination, repair paint. Completeness prices the package — uprights, chassis-specific mounts and angle hardware are half the value; a bare aerofoil is a project. Match span and profile (200/300/500) to your class rules and actual speeds; over-winging slow cars is the classic misbuy. Fresh hardware and honest carbon under asking price beats boxed-new folklore.

Did you know

  • The GTC-300's 3D twist exists because decklid airflow isn't uniform — the profile changes along the span, the detail separating aerofoils from ornaments.
  • Time attack's measured culture made the GTC catalogue near-uniform equipment — when lap deltas are public, cosmetic wings die of embarrassment.
  • APR publishes angle-of-attack guidance per wing — downforce with instructions, the aftermarket aero market's quiet revolution.
