Birel ART RY30

The Birel ART RY30 is the Lissone marque's front-line 30 mm chassis: the frame of the factory's KZ world-title campaigns and customer programmes worldwide — Italian karting royalty renewed by the ART Grand Prix alliance.

History

Birel's Lissone works has built karts since 1958 — one of the sport's founding Italian houses — and the 2015 alliance with Nicolas Todt's ART Grand Prix created Birel ART: factory racing ambition re-attached to six decades of production pedigree. The RY30 designation carries the marque's 30 mm-tube racing chassis line, homologated across the CIK cycles since and built in class-specific variants for KZ gearbox, OK direct-drive and X30/Rotax customer racing.

The factory team made the frame's name at world level: KZ World Championship success in 2019 crowned the programme, with European titles, WSK series wins and international finals results maintaining the RY30 lineage among the handful of chassis that contest karting's summit annually against Tony Kart's and CRG's equivalents.

For customers the proposition is the classic Italian-factory one: dealer networks on every continent, homologation-cycle updates keeping the model current, and a used market fed by factory and top-team frames cycling down each season — championship-derived equipment at club prices within a year or two of its frontline life.

Palmarès

CIK-FIA KZ World Championship victory 2019 (factory team); European Championship and WSK Super Master Series wins across KZ and OK classes; national titles worldwide through the customer network — the modern record of one of karting's historic constructors reborn.

What to check before you buy

Homologation window first — an RY30's CIK cycle determines international eligibility, while club racing forgives older frames. Then the standard forensics: rail and C-section straightness on the table (crashed 30 mm frames tweak detectably), originality of Birel ART components (Freeline brakes and accessories are part of the package's value), and class-variant correctness — a KZ frame differs from an OK/X30 layout in bracing and mounts. Ex-factory-team frames surface through the race-team network each season and are the informed buy; verify frame-number provenance with the importer.

  • Birel ART pairs one of karting's oldest factories (Lissone, since 1958) with ART Grand Prix — the team that ran Hamilton, Leclerc and Russell in car racing's junior ranks.
  • Freeline, Birel ART's in-house accessory brand, supplies brakes and components to the wider karting market — the factory profits even from rivals' grids.
  • The Kremers KZ world title in 2019 ended a long drought for the marque at karting's summit — Lissone celebrated like a Grand Prix win.
