Courage C65 (LMP2)

History

Yves Courage's La Sarthe-based house armed the LMP2 class's formative mid-2000s with the C65 (2003): the customer prototype — the class's early-rules architecture (the pre-spec era's constructor variety the later monopolies ended), the engine-partner spectrum (AER's turbo fours, Ford-based V6 fitments per customer) — racing the Le Mans Endurance Series' founding seasons and the 24 Hours' LMP2 entries (the local constructor's home-race tradition the Courage name carried since the C26-era eighties), the American Le Mans Series' class campaigns, and the customer careers the house's accessible pricing armed — with the C75-successor lineage (the aliases' companion) and the 2007 Oreca acquisition closing the independent chapter.

The class's formative rules shaped the machine: LMP2's early cost-cap philosophy (the customer-tier economics the category was written for), the open-versus-closed cockpit era's choices, and the gentleman-and-professional crew formats the class's entries mixed — the variety era's texture the spec decades flattened.
