Radical SR10

The SR10 is Radical's turbocharged sweet spot: 425 hp of Ford EcoBoost in the proven SR-family chassis, launched 2020 to sit between SR3 economy and SR8 intensity — and quickly the choice of Radical's fastest one-make classes.

History

Radical read its own market carefully: SR3 owners wanted more power without the SR8's V8 rebuild calendar, and the SR10 of 2020 answered with a 2.3-litre Ford EcoBoost four — turbocharged, RPE-calibrated to ~425 hp, with service intervals measured in road-engine terms — in the developed SR spaceframe with full aero, paddle-shifted Hewland and the factory's usual turnkey completeness.

Adoption was immediate: the Radical Challenge's premier class and North America's Radical Cup platformed the model, lap records at club venues fell to it (SR8 pace with half the fuss became the paddock summary), and the type slotted into open sports-prototype classes worldwide.

As a purchase the SR10 is Radical's modern value logic: newer fleet than the SR8, torque that flatters gentleman drivers, consumables on the SR3's sane side of the ledger, and factory support at full current strength. The used ladder is young but forming — early cars cycling as owners upgrade within the range — making it the recommended answer for 'fast Radical, sensible bills' conversations across the dealer network.

Palmarès

Radical Challenge premier-class titles and race wins since 2020; Radical Cup North America championships; club outright lap records across UK and US venues as the fleet spread — the young, accumulating record of the range's current performance flagship below the extreme specials.

What to check before you buy

Radical's factory records cover the young fleet — chassis history, update state and crash repairs from source. The EcoBoost's intervals are the selling point: verify hours and RPE service compliance rather than fearing them, and check turbo system health on hard-run cars. Gearbox and paddle service timing, floor/splitter kerb damage, and current one-make class compliance (Radical Challenge/Cup technical passports) complete the checks. Early-build cars without later updates price below current spec — the dealer network quotes the delta precisely.

Did you know

  • The SR10's engine philosophy inverted Radical tradition — after two decades of motorcycle-derived screamers, a torquey turbo four became the range's fast answer.
  • Paddock shorthand crowned it quickly: 'SR8 pace, SR3 bills' — the exact positioning Radical's product planners had written on the whiteboard.
  • SR10s took club lap records at several UK circuits within their first season — turbo torque out of slow corners doing what V8 top-end used to.
