This is an original historic race car with a dossier of magazine articles, letter of provenance & documents from the FIA
The car has an interesting history. It was brought to the USA from Sweden by lead singer of AC/DC and car enthusiast, Brian Johnson. Brian later opted to race MK1 Lotus cortina's and the Escort was moved on. I found the car advertised in an SCCA magazine for sale in New Jersey. Originally bought it with the intentions of building a road going MK1 TwinCam or RS1600. The car lay parked at the side of my house for several years while my son Marc and I raced goKarts. When Marc went off to college, I pulled the old car into the garage and started the rebuild project.
I had noticed some interesting period correct but crude modifications. While I trying to understand and figure the cars. History had previously owned the car in Sweden. I had been told the car had a log book that I was able to retrieve it from Wire Wheel Sports cars , the garage that represented the sale it for Brian in Florida. Wire wheel sent me an 1975 Svenska Billsportforbundet, competition log book that had the name and club (Finspang) and name of the owner who had sold it in Sweden, a Henrik Andersson.
At that point the cars provenance had not been discovered. Thinking it was a rally car, I contacted Henrik who informed me it had come from Stockholm and had been told that it was an old Timex sponsored car and gave me the of Bo 'Emma' Emmanulson who was the team principal for the Timex Race Team.
I contacted a mechanic from the Timex race team Raymond Petterson & personal friend of Bo. It took almost a year talking to both Raymond & Bo to get any feedback. I sent them multiple photos of the car & the modification They also asked me to start removing the layers of paint to revile different paint liveries. I thought I'd thought it was good when I was able to see the unique blue/white TIMEX livery buried in several key areas of the car. But that wasn't enough. The asked me to keep removing. I found green roof and black bottom half below windows. It was then I received a letter of provenance from Bo & Raymond stating it was in fact not only one of the Timex cars, but in fact the Bo personal car.
I have been restoring and sourcing period FIA Appendix K period correct parts for the restoration
The car comes with a signed letter of provenance from the owner and team manager Bo ‘Emma’ Emmanuelson, the letter is also signed by his then mechanic Raymond Peterson. The car has never been registered for road use. It has been used in extensively in international circuit racing motoring events, is known by the historic branch of the FIA and is eligible for historic FIA events with a HTP. I have ~95% of the correct period correct parts available for Appendix K completion with a BDA based engine. I believe it also could be prepared and raced in an earlier class with a Lotus Twin cam engine. I have several clips of the car in it current condition plus pictures & videos of the (many new) App K parts. I have a fully rebuilt 2.1 ltr alloy block HART BDG, an all steel 1700cc BDD or a 1700cc QED 420S Lotus twin-cam available. The transmission is a New Old Stock Close Ratio S5-18/3 with 1:1, 5 top gear. The car was valued at more than 200K 4 years ago by Gipi Motors in Belgium.
Please contact me if you would like to view the detailed videos of the car and App K parts offered in their current state.
