BMW M4 GT4 (F82 2018–2022, G82 2023–)
BMW M Motorsport's factory GT4 car, built on the F82 M4 from 2017 and on the G82 M4 from late 2022. It is sold ready to race for privateers and pro-am teams in SRO GT4, British GT, GT4 America and the Nürburgring. Both generations remain homologated, so the used market spans five model variants.
History
BMW Motorsport opened sales of the M4 GT4 during the Nürburgring 24 Hours weekend in May 2017 5. The car filled the gap between the M235i Racing and the M6 GT3 in the customer range 5. A media car raced that year's 24 Hours and won its class, despite a gearbox problem late on 9. Customer cars were sold for the 2018 season at €169,000 net, including a starter package 4.
The first car used the F82 M4 Coupé body with the 2,979 cc S55 twin-turbo six and a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox 317. BMW quoted more than 431 hp, with plug-in power sticks to match each Balance of Performance table 3. It was homologated as RACB GT4-036 from 24 May 2017 and later gained an EVO 2021 variant 7. Customer teams such as Century Motorsport raced F82 cars in British GT from 2018 to 2022 13.
The second-generation car, based on the G82 M4, was shown at Virginia International Raceway in June 2022 1. It moved to a 2,993 cc six rated at up to 550 hp and 650 Nm, again subject to BoP 1. The dual-clutch unit gave way to a ZF automatic with motorsport software and a Drexler limited-slip differential 1. The net price was €187,000, with production from October 2022 for the 2023 season 1. It carries homologation RACB GT4-046 7.
BMW presented the M4 GT4 EVO at the Spa 24 Hours in June 2024 2. The update focused on reliability and drivability, with a new splitter mounting, stronger rear wheel bearings and redesigned flicks 2. A complete EVO cost €219,000 net, and a retrofit kit for existing G82 cars cost €16,000 2. BMW then won the SRO global GT4 manufacturers' title in 2024 and 2025 18.
Palmarès
The F82 media car won its class on debut at the 2017 Nürburgring 24 Hours 9. Century Motorsport's sale listing claims British GT GT4 teams' titles in 2018 and 2021 for its F82 13. It also claims the 2021 drivers' title 13. F82 EVO cars won SP10 at the 2022 Nürburgring 24 Hours and SP8T in 2023 19. The G82 EVO helped BMW win the SRO global GT4 manufacturers' title in 2024 and 2025 18. In 2025 it also took all three GT4 America class titles 18.
What to check before you buy
Confirm the car is a BMW Motorsport build, not an Ekris conversion: Ekris M4 GT4 homologation GT4-028 expired at the end of 2021, while the BMW F82 car (GT4-036) runs to 2028 7. Ask which update level is fitted: F82 base or EVO 2021, G82 base or G82 EVO: The G82 EVO kit costs €16,000 net and changes bearings, splitter and flicks 2. Asking prices for EVO and non-EVO G82s differed by about €40,000 in 2026 15. Read the expiry dates on the fuel cell, belts and extinguisher: Sellers quote fuel cell certification dates, and an expired FT3 cell must be renewed before scrutineering 1213. Get total kilometres and the engine history: Mileage ranges widely, from 3,549 km on a G82 15 to 36,744 km on an F82 whose engine was replaced at 13,350 km 13. Ask when wheel bearings, hubs and front ball joints were last renewed: These parts were replaced repeatedly on raced F82 cars, and BMW reinforced the rear bearings on the G82 EVO 122. Make sure the full set of power sticks and the data cables come with the car: Power is set to BoP with power sticks 3. Sellers list the full range of sticks and ECU data cables as part of the deal 1314. For an F82, check the spares package and supply of factory-only parts: Some homologated F82 parts are released only at BMW Motorsport's discretion, with very limited availability 11. Inspect the front end for accident repairs: Sellers report replaced bumpers and fenders after contact 14, and the G82 front splitter mounting was revised in 2024 2.
