Toyota GR Yaris Rally2

History

Toyota Gazoo Racing built its first modern customer rally car around the GR Yaris homologation special: the Rally2 version pairs the mandated 1.6 turbo (a reworked G16E derivative) with the class's five-speed sequential and mechanical differentials, engineered by the same Finnish operation that runs the works WRC programme — customer rallying with world-championship engineering lineage.

Deliveries began in 2023 and results came fast: WRC2 event wins, European and national championship victories from Finland to Japan, and a customer order book that outran early production. TGR's parts-and-support network scaled through 2024–25 as the car matured update by update.

For buyers the GR Yaris Rally2 is the class's newest mainstream choice: values hold near list while demand exceeds supply, TGR support is factory-direct, and the car's gravel-first balance — bred on Finnish test roads — gives it a distinct character against the tarmac-refined Škoda. Early adopters trade waiting-list position as much as machinery; the used market proper is only now forming as first-generation cars cycle.
