Chevron B19

The B19 is the Bolton house's open-top turn: the 1971 2-litre spyder that fought Lola's T212s through the championship's golden wars — the B21 evolution beside it — historic 2-litre racing's front-line currency.

History

Chevron answered the 2-litre formula's aero turn with the B19 (1971): the B16's architecture opened to the spyder configuration the class's development demanded — the FVA-powered customer fleet fighting the European 2-litre Championship's golden wars (the Lola T212 rivalry's season-long arguments, Redman-and-Hine-era drives), the Springbok series' South African summers (the B19's overseas campaigns the marque's export chapter), and the customer careers the run armed — with the B21's 1972 evolution (the aliases' companion designation) continuing the line's development toward the B23-B26 generations.

The championship's texture made the legend: the two-litre wars' full grids (a dozen serious entries per round at the class's peak), the Redman-and-Hine-tier professional drives beside the gentleman entries, and the circuits — Anderstorp to Enna — whose calendar gave the class its continental romance the revival grids now recreate.

The golden-war context prices the type: the 2-litre championship's most romanticised seasons (the Chevron-Lola arguments historic racing relitigates), the Bennett-era craftsmanship continuing, and the front-line revival currency the type's grids maintain.

The present is the 2-litre revival's heart: the class's dedicated historic grids running B19s as front-line stock, FVA-era economics governing, and the per-chassis scholarship the marque registers keep.

What to check before you buy

Golden-war law: per-chassis scholarship through the marque registers (the run's identities and period campaigns — Springbok-and-European histories the provenance layers), B19-versus-B21 evolution precision per the aliases' companion designations, FVA-first economics as the era demands (engine builder, hours, internals the price's half), and spaceframe originality per Bolton-era construction stakes. The 2-litre revival's front-line demand keeps the market liquid at the class's stakes; the Chevron-Lola romance prices both sides of history's argument.

Did you know

  • The Lola wars are the romance: Chevron-versus-T212 seasons historic racing relitigates every revival weekend.
  • Springbok summers were the export chapter: the B19's South African campaigns carrying Bolton to the southern seasons.
  • The spyder turn answered aero: the B16's beautiful roof surrendered to the class's development arithmetic.
