Lamborghini Huracán Super Trofeo EVO2

The Huracán Super Trofeo EVO2 is Lamborghini's one-make weapon: GT3-adjacent pace on straights, simplified aero, and Squadra Corse's three-continent series behind it — the classic stepping stone between track days and full GT3 racing.

History

Lamborghini Super Trofeo launched in 2009 with the Gallardo and moved to the Huracán platform in 2015, evolving through the 2018 EVO to the EVO2 of 2022. The formula has stayed consistent: take the Huracán's aluminium-carbon hybrid chassis and 5.2-litre naturally aspirated V10 at a full 620 hp — unrestricted by BoP, so more powerful than the GT3 version — pair it with an Xtrac sequential gearbox, and wrap it in one-make aero that is simpler and cheaper to repair than a GT3 kit.

The EVO2 brought the most visible redesign of the line: a completely new front end inspired by the Huracán STO road car with a distinctive central 'shark nose', improved brake cooling, updated electronics and a new steering wheel. Crucially the kit retrofits to earlier Huracán ST chassis, protecting residual values across the fleet.

Super Trofeo runs parallel Europe, North America and Asia series on Grand Prix circuits, feeding a world final each year. For buyers, the car doubles as one of the best value fast track cars in the paddock: V10 soundtrack, real downforce, and consumables costs well under GT3 level.

Palmarès

The model's competition life is the Super Trofeo world: continental titles across Europe, North America and Asia and the annual World Finals crowns. Beyond the one-make fences, Super Trofeo machinery has won national GT Cup classes and endurance Cup categories, and the series' Pro graduates populate Lamborghini's GT3 factory and junior rosters.

What to check before you buy

Verify whether a car is a factory-built EVO2 or an earlier ST/EVO converted with the kit — both are legitimate, but Squadra Corse's chassis file should say so explicitly. The V10 is understressed and long-lived; the Xtrac gearbox and paddle system carry the scheduled costs, so ask for rebuild timing. Check the front crash structure and floor for kerb damage (the one-make racing is famously close), confirm the electronics generation, and if you plan Super Trofeo entry, check the car meets the current season's technical bulletin — the series polices spec tightly.

Did you know

  • Super Trofeo cars run more power than the Huracán GT3 — 620 hp unrestricted versus a BoP-limited GT3 — making them faster in a straight line than their 'senior' sibling.
  • The EVO2's front end previewed styling elements Lamborghini later rolled across the STO-era road range.
  • The series' World Finals gathers all three continental grids at one circuit — routinely fielding over 70 identical Huracáns, among the largest single-model fields in racing.
